With many of the world’s top grandmasters in the competition, the World Rapid Championship was hard-fought and popular with spectators, who jammed the playing hall all three days at the Bolle Meierei, located in the heart of Berlin.

The World Rapid Championship in Berlin drew 158 players from 47 countries. The level of competition was high, but in the end, Magnus Carlsen, the top-ranked player and defending champion, walked away with the crown.
