Mobile Application Terms of Use

These terms are effective as of January 1, 2026

Thank you for using the World Chess mobile application. By downloading, installing, or using this application, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions, which together with our Privacy Policy govern our relationship with you in respect to this application. If you disagree with any part of these terms and conditions, please do not use our application.

The term "World Chess Events Limited" or "us" or "we" refers to the owner of the application whose registered office is at Eastcastle House, 27/28 Eastcastle Street, London, United Kingdom, W1W 8DH and/or its affiliated parties. The term "you" refers to the user of our application.

1. General Terms

  1. The use of this application is subject to these terms of use. The content of the application is for your general information and use only and is subject to change without notice.
  2. This application uses cookies and similar technologies to monitor browsing preferences. For more information regarding the use of cookies, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
  3. Neither we nor any third parties provide any warranty or guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness, or suitability of the information and materials found or offered in this application for any particular purpose. You acknowledge that such information and materials may contain inaccuracies or errors, and we expressly exclude liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  4. Your use of any information or materials in this application is entirely at your own risk, for which we shall not be liable. It shall be your own responsibility to ensure that any products, services, or information available through this application meet your specific requirements.
  5. This application contains material which is owned by or licensed to us. This material includes, but is not limited to, the design, layout, look, appearance, and graphics. Reproduction is prohibited unless specifically stated otherwise.
  6. All trademarks reproduced in this application which are not the property of, or licensed to, the operator are acknowledged.
  7. From time to time, this application may include links to other websites or applications. These links are provided for your convenience to provide further information. 2. Subscriptions and In-App Purchases

2.1 Subscription Plans

In our application, you may purchase paid subscription packages. The price, content, and duration of each subscription package are clearly outlined on the subscription page within the application before purchase.

2.2 Auto-Renewal Terms

Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the subscription rate displayed at the time of purchase.

2.3 Payment Processing

For Apple App Store Users: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID account settings.

For Google Play Users: Payment will be charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions are managed through your Google Play account settings.

2.4 Managing Your Subscription

You may manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time by going to your account settings on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

2.5 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will continue to have access to your subscription benefits until the end of your current billing period. No refunds will be provided for the unused portion of the current billing period, except as required by applicable law or as set forth in Section 3 below.

2.6 Price Changes

Prices for subscriptions may change at any time. Any price change will take effect following notice to you. If you do not agree to a price change, you may cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.

3. Refund Policy

3.1 Refund Requests

For Apple App Store Purchases: All purchases made through the App Store are processed by Apple. To request a refund for any App Store purchase, you must submit your request directly to Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com. Refund eligibility and processing are determined solely by Apple in accordance with their refund policies and applicable consumer protection laws.

For Google Play Purchases: All purchases made through Google Play are processed by Google. To request a refund for any Google Play purchase, you must submit your request directly to Google through the Google Play Store or play.google.com. Refund eligibility and processing are determined solely by Google in accordance with their refund policies and applicable consumer protection laws.

3.2 Regional Consumer Rights

These terms do not limit any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to rights under EU consumer protection regulations, Australian Consumer Law, or other applicable local laws.

4. Account Deletion

4.1 Your Right to Delete Your Account

You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time.

4.2 How to Request Account Deletion

To delete your account, you may:

(a) Use the account deletion option within the application settings (if available); or

(b) Submit a deletion request by email to: support@worldchess.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Please include the email address associated with your account.

4.3 What Happens When You Delete Your Account

Upon receiving and processing your deletion request:

(a) Your account will be permanently deactivated and you will no longer be able to access it.

(b) Your personal data will be deleted from our active systems, subject to our data retention obligations as described in our Privacy Policy.

(c) Certain data may be retained for legal, accounting, or legitimate business purposes as permitted by applicable law.

(d) Game records and ratings that constitute official sports records may be retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

4.4 Account Deletion and Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel any active subscriptions. To avoid future charges, you must cancel your subscription through your Google Play account settings or Apple App Store account settings before requesting account deletion.

4.5 Processing Time

Account deletion requests will be processed within 30 days of receipt. You will receive confirmation once your account has been deleted.

5. Fair Play Policy

In case of any violations of our Fair Play Policy, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account. No payments will be refunded for accounts terminated due to Fair Play Policy violations, except where prohibited by applicable law.

6. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account or subscription for any reason, including but not limited to violations of these Terms of Use or our Fair Play Policy. In the event of termination for cause, no refund will be provided except where required by applicable law.

7. Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which is accessible within the application and at worldchess.com/privacy, to understand how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms within the application or by other means. Your continued use of the application after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions, except where such choice of law would deprive you of mandatory consumer protection rights available under the laws of your country of residence.
