Oyuncu bilgileri
Aryan Tari is a Norwegian grandmaster and one of the leading players of Norway’s post-Carlsen generation. Born in Stavanger in 1999, he became a grandmaster in 2016 and built his early international reputation through strong youth results, most notably winning the World Junior Championship in 2017. Tari later added two Norwegian Championship titles and established himself as a regular presence in strong elite and upper-elite events. His peak classical rating reached 2672, with a peak world ranking of No. 70. In recent seasons he has continued to show serious classical form, gaining rating points in the 2025 European Championship cycle and finishing near the top of the Brazil Series in early 2026. Tari’s profile is that of a modern professional grandmaster with strong foundations, increasing maturity, and the ability to compete beyond the Scandinavian circuit.
Oyun tarzı
Tari’s style is controlled, thoughtful, and increasingly mature. He is not dependent on immediate chaos to generate chances, and many of his better results come from positions where he can improve his pieces gradually before striking. At the same time, he is tactically capable and comfortable in sharp moments once the position demands calculation. That combination makes him hard to classify narrowly as either purely positional or purely tactical.

- 2021vs Magnus CarlsenFIDE World Cup, Round 3Even though the match went Carlsen’s way, the all-Norwegian pairing was one of the highest-profile games of Tari’s career and placed him directly on one of chess’s biggest stages.
- 2025vs Pranesh MFIDE World Cup, Round 1Tari’s World Cup match with Pranesh became one of his more notable recent knockout tests. It was a serious modern World Cup pairing against another ambitious young grandmaster and showed that Tari remained active in top-level qualification events.
Açılış repertuvarı
Tari’s repertoire is flexible but not random. His White practice has shown recurring Closed Sicilian ideas and queen’s-pawn systems with an early Bf4 setup, while with Black he is comfortable in classical open-game structures where piece play and timing matter more than novelty hunting.
