Oyuncu bilgileri

Parham Maghsoodloo is an Iranian chess grandmaster whose rise has been built on a mix of sharp calculation, fighting spirit, and consistently ambitious opening choices. He became a grandmaster in 2016, won the Iranian Championship three times, and broke through internationally by taking the 2018 World Junior Championship with a dominant score. In the years that followed, he established himself as a regular presence near the 2700 level and built a reputation as one of the most uncompromising players in elite open tournaments and strong round robins. His 2024 Aktobe Open victory and strong 2025–26 results, including a podium finish in Prague, showed that he remains a serious force well beyond his junior years. Maghsoodloo’s best games often come from positions where he can combine structural clarity with tactical pressure, which is why he remains such an awkward opponent even for more established super-grandmasters.

Iranian chess grandmaster, World Junior champion, and one of elite chess’s sharpest players.

Oyun tarzı

Maghsoodloo plays with ambition and nerve. He is comfortable in unbalanced positions, willing to take on structural risk, and rarely looks interested in flattening the game early unless the tournament situation demands it. What makes him dangerous is that his aggression is usually backed by real calculation rather than pure instinct. At his best, he gets positions where both sides have chances, then simply handles the complications better than his opponent.

En iyi oyunlar

  • 2018
    vs Maxim Vavulin
    World Junior Championship, Round 10
This was the result that secured the World Junior title with a round to spare. It remains the clearest early landmark in Maghsoodloo’s career because it turned a strong event into a runaway championship win.
  • 2019
    vs Vidit Gujrathi
    FIDE Grand Swiss, Round 4
A win over Vidit in the Grand Swiss was one of Maghsoodloo’s strongest early statement results against elite opposition in a major Swiss event. It showed that his junior success could translate against established world-class players.
  • 2025
    vs R Praggnanandhaa
    UzChess Cup Masters, Round 5
This was one of the key swing games of the tournament. Maghsoodloo beat one of the leaders and re-shaped the title race in a field packed with top-level opposition.
  • 2026
    vs Jorden van Foreest
    Prague Masters, Round 9
Maghsoodloo beat Van Foreest in the final round and finished on the podium in Prague. It is a strong fresh inclusion because it came in one of the strongest classical events of the early 2026 calendar.

Açılış repertuvarı

Maghsoodloo’s repertoire is aggressive but not chaotic. His opening profile points to a White repertoire built around Réti / King’s Indian Attack structures, English Opening move orders, and Queen’s Pawn Game positions, while with Black he most often works through the Sicilian Najdorf, Queen’s Gambit Declined, and Modern Defense families. That combination fits his style well: flexible on move one, but ready to sharpen quickly once the middlegame takes shape.
