Anish Giri
GM
Oyuncu bilgileri
Anish Giri is a Dutch chess grandmaster and one of the most established elite players of his generation. On the April 2026 FIDE classical list he is rated 2753 and remains the No. 1 player of the Netherlands. Giri became a grandmaster at 14, rose to world No. 3 during his first great peak, and built his reputation on deep preparation, strategic clarity, and exceptional defensive resilience. In later years that reputation evolved: he stayed difficult to beat, but added more tournament-winning punch, claiming Tata Steel Masters in 2023 and the FIDE Grand Swiss in 2025 to qualify for the 2026 Candidates. He has spent more than a decade as a permanent presence in elite events and continues to combine opening depth with high-level practical accuracy.
Oyun tarzı
Giri’s style is best described as universal, precise, and highly prep-driven. He has long been known as one of the hardest elite players to beat, but that label only captures part of the picture: his best tournaments show a player who can absorb pressure, outcalculate in sharp lines, and convert technical edges once the opening battle is won. The modern version of Giri is less about surviving and more about controlling games from move one with superior structure and preparation.
