Alexander Grischuk
GM
Oyuncu bilgileri
Alexander Grischuk is a Russian grandmaster and one of the most accomplished players of his era across both classical and fast time controls. Born in Moscow in 1983, he became a grandmaster in 2000 and spent many years in the absolute world elite. Grischuk’s career combines elite tournament longevity with outstanding success in faster formats, most notably his three World Blitz titles. In classical chess he reached the final of the 2011 Candidates and played in multiple Candidates cycles, confirming his place among the strongest challengers of his generation. He also built an extensive team record, including Olympiad medals and major international team successes. Even later in his career, he has remained relevant in top-level events, continuing to appear in major knockouts and strong closed tournaments. Grischuk’s profile on World Chess is that of a complete grandmaster: elite-level calculation, deep theoretical knowledge, and a long record of success against the strongest opposition in the game.
Oyun tarzı
Grischuk is a world-class calculator whose best games often grow out of complex strategic positions rather than immediate all-out attacks. He is comfortable in heavy theoretical battles, but his real strength lies in navigating complications once the game leaves preparation. That makes him especially dangerous in positions where accuracy and nerve matter more than surface-level activity. His long success in blitz is not incidental: it reflects a player who sees tactical resources quickly and remains practical even in messy positions. At his best, he combines elite technique with a constant sense of danger for the opponent.

Açılış repertuvarı
Grischuk’s repertoire is rooted in heavyweight theory, but he is fully capable of switching tone when a position calls for it. His opening choices often aim for strategically rich middlegames rather than quick simplifications.
