Erigaisi Arjun
GM
Oyuncu bilgileri
Arjun Erigaisi is an Indian chess grandmaster and one of the strongest players of the new Indian generation. On the April 2026 FIDE list he is rated 2751 and sits inside the world top 10. His rise from elite prospect to established super-grandmaster accelerated through 2022–2024, when he won Tata Steel Challengers, claimed the Indian Championship, added major open-event victories, and became only the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to cross the 2800 barrier on an official FIDE classical list. Arjun also played a major role in India’s gold-medal run at the 45th Chess Olympiad, where he won individual gold on board three. He qualified for the 2026 Candidates through the 2024 FIDE Circuit and has continued to combine classical strength with serious results in faster formats, including a medal finish at the 2025 World Rapid Championship. His profile is built around calculation, ambition, and a willingness to play for more than equality.
Oyun tarzı
Arjun is a sharp, ambitious player who prefers to keep the game alive rather than flatten it into symmetry. His best chess comes when calculation, initiative, and practical pressure matter most, but that does not make him one-dimensional. Over the last two years he has also become more stable in long tournaments, which is a major reason he reached 2800 and qualified for the Candidates through circuit consistency. The blend of tactical energy and improving positional control is what makes his profile especially dangerous.
