GM
Oyuncu bilgileri
Alexey Sarana is a Serbian chess grandmaster, born in Moscow, who has steadily built one of the strongest careers among players from his generation outside the very top headline group. He earned the grandmaster title in 2017, made an early breakthrough by winning the Russian Championship Higher League, and later added major international titles, most notably the 2023 European Individual Championship. He also won the European Online Chess Championship in 2020 and reached a new career level in 2024, when his classical rating climbed to a personal best of 2717. In 2025, he kept that momentum alive by winning the Aktobe Open and taking board two gold at the European Team Championship. Sarana’s rise has been based less on one dramatic breakout and more on sustained quality: strong opening preparation, disciplined game management, and an ability to score efficiently in long Swiss and team events.
Oyun tarzı
Sarana’s style is organized, controlled, and very effective in tournament settings where consistency matters. He is comfortable in theory, but his best games are not just about memorization; they are usually shaped by strong positional understanding and disciplined conversion once he gets a playable edge. He tends to look especially convincing in long events, where his ability to avoid unnecessary damage and capitalize on chances late in the event becomes a real asset.
