2015 World Chess Rapid and Blitz Championship was held in Berlin. Organized by World Chess, it was the first ever Rapid and Blitz Championship that was broadcast live on a major sports channel. The Championship had a spectator area that was completely sold out. The event featured all the chess greats, including Magnus Carlsen, MVL and more. There were 200 players in total. The event’s opening gala inlcuded the official European premier of ‘The Pawn Sacrifice’. Boris Spassky attended the opening.
