Player Details

Vincent Keymer is a German chess grandmaster and one of the fastest-rising players of his generation. He entered the March 2026 FIDE classical list as world No. 4 with a 2776 rating, the highest placement of his career at that point. Keymer became the youngest German player to earn the grandmaster title, broke through internationally with his stunning 2018 Grenke Open victory, and has since built a résumé that combines elite classical growth with strong results in faster formats. In 2022 he finished runner-up at the World Rapid Championship, and in 2025 he added two major titles by winning the Weissenhaus Freestyle Chess Grand Slam and the Chennai Grand Masters. Those results pushed him into the world top 10 and confirmed that he is no longer just a rising talent, but a genuine top-tier contender in elite events.

Playing Style

Keymer’s style is controlled, positional, and increasingly mature for his age. He is comfortable steering games into long strategic battles, but he is not passive; when the position calls for it, he can switch quickly into sharp calculation and concrete play. His best recent results suggest a player who combines excellent structure sense with improving practical strength in elite events. That balance is a big reason he has climbed from top prospect to established world-class grandmaster.
